Anatomy Trainings and Workshops

Align by Design Yoga™ workshops have been created to offer a truly unique approach to the fascinating study of anatomy and structural alignment, presenting the principles that form the foundation of yoga asana practice.

Our program is completely experiential and hands-on, allowing the precise details of anatomical alignment to be applied directly to yoga asana, assists and yoga therapeutics.

The program is taught by Steven Weiss, MS, DC, RYT.  He has been the resident chiropractor at the Omega Institute of Holistic Studies in Rhinebeck, NY. With nearly 30 years of professional experience in diagnostics and bodywork, his teaching reflects a clarity and insight into the nature of structural alignment. The training provides information and practical tools that are well suited for yoga teachers, yoga therapists, and those simply wanting to further develop their personal practice.

Frequent comments that we've heard from people taking other anatomy programs are:
"Interesting, but now what do I do with all this information?"
"I'm not interested in studying anatomy because its going to make my practice less spiritual!"

We delightfully disagree! Anatomy need not be a lot of abstract information that is dry, confusing, or overly intellectual. Our program is dedicated to being completely relevant to all aspects of yoga, easily appliable, and fun! We present the material with a sophisticated simplicity that brings it into your asana practice, right as you are learning! In addition, a greater understanding of how the body functions deepens the respect and heightened spiritual awareness and enriches our practice.

From an Align by Design Yoga™ anatomy training, you will come away with confidence and a clear understanding into the biomechanical principles of yoga. It will impact on your practice or teaching like nothing you have experienced before.

To heal or to injure?

When the body aligns with precision, there is a powerful cascading effect of vitality, regeneration and healing. An anatomically based yoga practice not only increases strength and flexibility but also becomes a powerful therapeutic and rehabilitative tool.

Asana practice that ignores or neglects to apply the fundamentals of anatomy is dangerous to the body and eventually will cause injury.

Which quality will your practice have?
