- WHY OUR TRAINING IS DIFFERENT
-
"If, in the language of the body, anatomy is the vocabulary and physiology its grammar, then body mechanics is certainly the poetry."
Steven Weiss
Developed through the curious eyes of an experienced holistic health and yoga practitioner, this training is truly unique. From thirty years of practice, Dr. Weiss’ draws upon his expertise in diagnostics, therapeutics, and orthopedic issues while approaching anatomy with progressive concepts in holistic and yogic philosophy.
Steven's affiliation with the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies as a teacher, consultant, resident chiropractor and nutritionist has provided him the rare hands-on opportunity to work with thousands of yogis and dancers. Of particular interest has been the persistent injury and chronic damage suffered by even the most flexible and masterful yogis. This workshop will expose many commonly misunderstood issues regarding alignment and take an insightful look into addressing both the healthy and the injured person. We offer a practical and user-friendly approach to an otherwise challenging topic.
HOW WE APPROACH TEACHING
1. We use clear and simple language supported by interesting visual aids.
2. Important biomechanical principles are presented and the relevant anatomy and physiology is introduced.
3. Through partner exercises or individual exploration, each student experiences the principles in their own bodies.
4. By next practicing yoga postures that utilize the principles, the material is integrated into our poses, readily and practically.
5. And to more deeply understand the concepts, we delve into yoga therapeutics and one-on-one assisting that utilizes exactly what we've learned.
